Our Role
We carried out a Reinstatement Cost Assessment for insurance purposes on a complex Grade II listed historic property. The building has evolved over many decades, with successive additions blending traditional architecture and modern construction.
Originally built as a grand mansion and once the residence of the Mayor of Hastings, the property has since been thoughtfully adapted into an assisted living home for elderly people. Located just a short stroll from the seafront, it is a building of significant historical character, presenting a unique and rewarding assessment project for Insight Surveyors.
Project Description
A Reinstatement Cost Assessment (RCA) is an essential part of effective property management, helping to ensure a building is insured for the full cost of rebuilding in the event of a total loss.
For listed and heritage properties such as this, the assessment is particularly important. Reinstatement costs must take into account traditional materials, specialist craftsmanship, and conservation requirements, all of which can have a significant impact on the overall cost of rebuilding. An accurate assessment helps ensure the property is adequately insured while protecting its unique historic character.
